Updates and announcements from the judiciary:
Welcome Justice Mintz to 47 Sheppard as of end of April
Remind everyone about the upcoming summer soiree and Justice Curtis’ retirement will take place next week on Thursday 4 – 7:30 – tickets are for sale Aisha Hussain (ahussain@hussainlaw.ca)
The next education program will be on Tuesday June 10th at 4:30 – 6:00 – The Judges will be giving their tips and feedback
Court digitization is ongoing – the implementation date has been pushed back to later in 2025 – expect to see notices in the fall
Legal aid counsel is back on site as of May 2025 – Monday, Wednesday and Friday for domestic cases. The court is hoping it will be well used and expanded to full-time. Court is asking that counsel refer people to this service.
14B motions –the court is accepting email confirmations of service on counsel as well as signed consents by counsel as proof of service. Affidavits of service are not required if other proof of service has been provided.
Trial dates – set for 2026 – three CP sittings and four Domestic sittings – CP sittings will be at different times than at 311 Jarvis. Two of the domestic sittings will be joint with 311 Jarvis and two will be separate.
